How a reading is made
Two halves, kept separate on purpose. The chart is computed. The reading is written against classical texts and reviewed before it is sent. This page says exactly how, including what a reading will refuse to say.
The chart is calculated
01Your pillars are produced by a deterministic astronomical library, not estimated and not guessed. The engine is verified against a fixed set of known charts before any release, and the free calculators on this site run the same computation as the paid readings.
The time is corrected before anything is read
02Your birth clock time is converted to true solar time at your birth longitude, and the size of that correction is printed in your document so you can see what moved. Where a correction crosses a boundary and changes a pillar, the document says so.
The interpretation is grounded and named
03What the chart means is written against classical source texts, and those texts are named in the title block of your document rather than alluded to. Every document is reviewed against its own chart before it is issued.

Saju and BaZi are computed identically
04A Korean saju and a BaZi chart drawn from the same birth minute contain the same four pillars, because they are the same calculation. What differs is the vocabulary, the conventions and the tradition doing the reading. The longitude and equation-of-time correction above replaces the folk thirty-minute adjustment often applied to Korean births, so it is never applied twice.
What a reading will not do
05No health, illness or lifespan claims. No gambling advice or lucky numbers. No instructions about what to do with your money, your contracts or your relationships. Readings are prepared for subjects aged eighteen and over, they read tendencies and timing, and they close each section with what the pattern means for a decision you are already weighing.

Questions about the method
06Is the chart itself calculated or generated?
Calculated. The pillars come from a deterministic astronomical library, the same one every time, corrected for true solar time at the birth longitude. The same birth data always produces the same chart.
Why does true solar time matter?
Clock time is a political convention and the sky is not. A birth in western Malaysia is roughly forty minutes off its own solar noon, which is enough to move an hour pillar and sometimes a day pillar. The correction is applied before anything is interpreted, and the size of it is printed in your document.
Which texts is the interpretation grounded in?
The classical texts for the system your reading uses, named in full below and in the title block of your document. Living practitioners are read for validation but never used as source material for what your document says.
How do you know the calculation is right?
Every release is checked against a fixed set of thirty-one known charts covering the cases that break calculators: solar-term boundaries, the 23:00 day change, historical daylight-saving rules, and births with no recorded time. Each case carries its own trail of independent references it was checked against. The free tools on this site are checked against the same set, so a tool and a paid reading cannot disagree about your chart.
Is a person involved, or is this automated?
Both, and the split is the point. The chart is machine work and should be: it is arithmetic, and a person doing it by hand is a person making mistakes. The writing is drafted against the classical texts and then read against the chart before the document is issued, which is where a person catches what a draft got wrong.
What will a reading not do?
It will not make health, illness or lifespan claims, it will not give you lucky numbers, and it will not tell you what to do. It reads tendencies and timing, and every section closes with what the pattern means for a decision you are already making.
What happens if my birth time is unknown?
The hour pillar is withheld and the document states plainly which parts of the reading it can and cannot speak to. Nothing is invented to fill the gap.
