What Tian Xiang is
Tian Xiang is the second-in-command, and the texts treat that as a competence rather than a rank. Its palace is where you make things work, keep the peace and give sound advice.
The reading rule the classics attach to it is that Tian Xiang is defined by what it serves. Strong company makes it excellent and weak company makes it directionless, more so than for any other star. The tendency to watch is deferral: a decision left to whoever the star is currently supporting.
