Wealth 財帛

cái bó

How money is earned, held and moved. A pattern rather than a figure, and the palace most often oversold.

What the Wealth palace covers

財帛 reads how money behaves around you: how it is earned, how it is held, and how it moves. The tradition treats it as a pattern rather than a quantity, and that limit is not modesty. It is the difference between what the method supports and what sells.

So the useful output here is a shape. Money that arrives on a schedule reads differently from money that arrives in bursts, and both read differently again from money that passes through on its way somewhere.

Read it with Fortune opposite it

This palace faces 福德 Fortune, which covers inner contentment and what restores a person.

Reading them as a pair is one of the more pointed things the tradition does. It refuses to let the money palace be read alone, and pins it to the question of whether the person is actually content, which is not the same question and often has a different answer.

Its trine palaces are Self and Career, so 財帛 sits in a closed triangle with the two palaces most about what you do and who you are.

The star supplies the tendency, the palace supplies the subject

The palace names the subject. The star decides the tendency, and brightness decides how strongly.

Classical practice weighs how well a star is placed rather than how many stars are present, so one major star at its brightest here carries more than three dim ones. That is the correction to make if you have read that a crowded palace is a strong one.

When it is empty

An empty 財帛 palace does not mean poverty, and reading it that way is the single most common error made with this palace.

空宮 means no major star landed there, which is ordinary. It is read through Fortune opposite, borrowing those stars, and the borrowed reading is indirect and weaker than a direct one. A reading should say so.

What is in yours depends on your birth hour, and the free chart will draw it.

Common questions

Notes
Will the wealth palace tell me how much I will earn?

No, and the tradition does not claim it can. 財帛 reads the pattern: whether money tends to arrive steadily or in bursts, whether it is held or moved, and what kind of work it tends to come from. Amounts are not something a chart is competent to produce, and any source quoting you one has left the method behind.

Is a strong wealth palace a rich chart?

Not on its own. A well-placed star here describes a clear relationship with money rather than a large one, and plenty of charts with a busy wealth palace describe someone who moves money constantly rather than accumulates it. The pattern is the finding, not the size.

Why does it face the fortune palace?

Because 財帛 and 福德 sit directly opposite, and classical practice reads the pair together. Money and contentment are treated as one subject seen from two ends, which is a more useful frame than reading either alone.

What reaches Wealth from across the chart

Computed · 三方四正

A palace is never read alone. The one directly opposite informs it, and two more reach it from across the square at a hundred and twenty degrees. Together those four cells are its influence set, and a star transformed in any of them is felt here.

At this level the triangle is used lightly, mainly to notice when a palace is reinforced from across the chart. It is not turned into a full geometric audit.

Method and sources

The order of the twelve, the palace opposite this one and its two trine palaces are computed from a chart drawn by the same engine the readings use, never typed. What each palace covers follows the classical text listed below.
