What the Children palace covers
子女 is the palace of what you bring into being. Children are the first sense of it, and classical practice reads it just as readily for creative output, for the things you start, and for what you mentor into existence in other people.
The common thread is production that goes on without you. Anything you make and then hand over belongs to this palace.
Read it with Property opposite it
This palace faces 田宅 Property, the settled base of a life: home, roots and assets.
The pair reads as base and issue. Property is what holds still and accumulates; Children is what comes out of it and leaves. Neither is complete alone, which is why 紫微斗數全書 reads every palace against the one across the square.

The star supplies the tendency, the palace supplies the subject
The palace supplies the subject and the star supplies the tendency, which is the rule across all twelve.
A commanding star here reads differently from a restless one, and neither result is good or bad on the face of it. What a reading does is name which stars landed, how brightly, and what that tends to mean for this particular area rather than in general.
When it is empty
An empty 子女 palace is ordinary. 空宮 means no major star sits there, and roughly half the palaces in a typical plate are in that state.
It is read through Property opposite, borrowing those stars, and the borrowed reading is weaker than one taken directly. A reading that does not say so is claiming more than the method gives.

Common questions
NotesDoes this palace say whether I will have children?
No. Classical practice reads it for the character of what you bring into being and how you relate to it, not as a forecast about whether or when. This site does not read any palace as a prediction about a life event, and fertility in particular is outside what a chart is competent to speak to.
What does it read for someone without children?
The same subject, in its wider sense. 子女 covers creative output and what you mentor into existence as much as it covers offspring, so it reads perfectly well for work you make, people you teach and things you start that outlast your involvement.
Why does it face the property palace?
Because 子女 and 田宅 sit opposite each other, and the tradition reads the pair together. What you produce and where you are rooted are treated as two sides of one subject: the base you build from and what leaves that base and carries on.
