Health 疾厄

jí è · Read as vitality, never as medicine

Constitution read as energy, stamina and recovery. What your reserves do, and what the pattern suggests is worth protecting.

What the Health palace covers

疾厄 is read for constitution in the sense of energy: what your reserves do, how quickly you spend them, and what the pattern suggests about pace.

That is a real subject and it deserves saying properly rather than hedging around. Some charts run hot and burn through what they have; others hold a steadier line and take longer to recover once they have gone past it. Knowing which you are is the sort of thing you can actually act on, which is the whole point of reading the palace at all.

Where the line sits is equally worth stating. A chart cannot identify a condition, cannot time illness, cannot read organs, and cannot tell you what to take. Anyone offering you those from a birth chart has left the method behind, and this practice does not go there. What it can do is describe stamina and what is worth protecting.

Read it with Parents opposite it

疾厄 faces 父母 Parents across the square, and the tradition reads the pair together.

The connection is formative, not medical. What you inherited by way of habits, pace and expectation, and the working rhythm you now run on, are treated as one subject seen from two ends. Read as a pair they describe where your default setting came from, which is more useful than either half alone.

Its trine palaces are Siblings and Property, completing the 三方四正 influence set.

The star supplies the tendency, the palace supplies the subject

As everywhere in the system, the palace names the subject and the stars name the tendency, with brightness deciding how strongly it reads.

A restless star here describes reserves that go quickly and want deliberate recovery built in. A steadier one describes reserves that hold, and a person who may not notice a cost until well after it lands. Neither is a verdict, and neither is a claim about anybody’s body. They are descriptions of pace, and each one comes with something to do about it.

When it is empty

An empty 疾厄 palace is ordinary, and it says nothing either way about how robust anyone is.

空宮 means no major star landed there, and the rule is to read it through Parents opposite, borrowing those stars indirectly. Classical practice at this level says to touch this palace lightly in any case, and often to leave it alone entirely when the chart has more to say elsewhere.

If you want to see where yours sits, the free chart draws all twelve from your birth hour.

Common questions

Notes
What does the health palace actually tell me?

How your energy tends to behave: whether it runs steadily or in bursts, how hard you push before you notice, and how much recovery the pattern seems to want. That is a reading about stamina and pacing, and it is genuinely useful, because it points at something you can protect.

Can it tell me what is wrong with me, or when?

No, and this is a firm line rather than a modest one. A chart cannot identify a condition, cannot time illness, cannot read organs or body parts, and cannot advise on treatment. Nothing on this site does any of those things. Questions about your body belong with a qualified professional, and a reading is not a second opinion.

Why does it face the parents palace?

Because 疾厄 and 父母 sit directly opposite, and the tradition reads every palace with the one facing it. The link is formative rather than medical: the habits, the pace and the expectations you took on early, and the working rhythm you run on now.

What reaches Health from across the chart

Computed · 三方四正

A palace is never read alone. The one directly opposite informs it, and two more reach it from across the square at a hundred and twenty degrees. Together those four cells are its influence set, and a star transformed in any of them is felt here.

At this level the triangle is used lightly, mainly to notice when a palace is reinforced from across the chart. It is not turned into a full geometric audit.

Method and sources

The order of the twelve, the palace opposite this one and its two trine palaces are computed from a chart drawn by the same engine the readings use, never typed. This palace is read as vitality and pacing and never as medicine, per the guardrails. What each palace covers follows the classical text listed below.
