What Yin Wood is

Your day master is the single character your whole chart is measured against. Yin Wood is the second of the ten heavenly stems, and the classical image is a vine or a climbing plant rather than a tree: something that reaches the same height by using what is already standing.

Here is the part a trait list will not tell you. Yin Wood is routinely underestimated, and a good deal of its advantage comes from that. It gets asked to accommodate because accommodating looks easy from outside, and it usually can. The cost is that the accommodating is invisible, so it does not get counted, and the person doing it can end up shaped entirely by other people’s structures. The skill is noticing which support you are climbing on and whether you still want to be going that way.

How it reads in context

Is Yin Wood weaker than Yang Wood?

No. They are the same element at opposite polarity, not two grades of the same thing. Yang Wood holds a line and Yin Wood works around one, and which is stronger depends entirely on the season and the company, not on the stem.

Does Yin Wood mean I am a passive person?

The stem describes how force is applied rather than how much of it there is. Going around an obstacle is a strategy rather than an absence of one, and charts with Yin Wood day masters are as likely to be relentless as any other.
