What Pressure is

Pressure is an element that controls your day master, in matching polarity. It is the first of the two gods that point inward with force: not something you make or gather, but something acting on you.

Every element is controlled by one other. That relation, read from your own position, is where the two officer gods come from, and Pressure is the same-polarity one.

Which system this page is speaking from

These characters name two different things in two different systems, so it is worth stating plainly.

On this page, 七杀 is a BaZi ten god, a relation between your day master and another stem, and the readings call it Pressure. In Zi Wei Dou Shu, 七杀 is one of the fourteen major stars, and the readings call that Vanguard. They are not the same idea and they should not be read across.

How it reads

The theme is challenge, drive, authority and raw power. Classical practice associates it with leadership, with military and sporting fields, and with crisis roles: places where the demand is genuinely heavy and where somebody has to absorb it.

With money it reads as gained under pressure rather than gathered comfortably. In how you relate to people, it is demanding and transformative, bonds that ask something of both sides.

Why the same god reads two ways

Of the ten, this is the one where the swing is widest, and where reading the name alone does the most damage.

A day master with the support to hold it reads Pressure as resilience and leadership. The demand is real and the chart can meet it, which is what produces the capacity to work under conditions other people cannot.

A weak, unsupported day master meets the same relation as something bearing down on it. The classical description is direct: a person driven by forces outside their own control.

Same relation, opposite reading, and it is not a small difference. That question is the largest single job a full reading does, and no page describing the relation in general can settle it.

Why is this not called Seven Killings?

That is the literal reading of the characters, and this practice does not use it. It is fear-coded, it describes the relation worse than the plain archetype does, and it sends people looking for a catastrophe in a chart that is only showing them where the demands come from. The same reasoning keeps the malefic minor stars out of the Zi Wei Dou Shu readings.

Are the BaZi 七杀 and the Zi Wei Dou Shu 七杀 the same thing?

No, and this is the one genuine trap in the reference library. Here, 七杀 is a ten god: a relation between your day master and another stem, which the readings call Pressure. In Zi Wei Dou Shu it is one of the fourteen major stars, which the readings call Vanguard. Two different things sharing a spelling, in two different systems.

Is Pressure a bad thing to have?

It is the god whose reading swings most on the state of the chart, and that is exactly why it cannot be answered from the name. Held well, it is the source of drive and the capacity to work under conditions that stop other people. Held badly, it is strain. The relation is identical in both.
